Hassi el Biod 002 UngPal 3.52g Partial Slice of an Exceedingly Rare Meteorite

Item for auction is a 3.52g partial slice of the Hassi el Biod ungrouped pallasite meteorite that was found in Ouargla, Algeria in 2021. Five identically appearing masses (total 10 kg) found together. Saw cut surface shows angular cm-sized dark-orange olivine grains set in metal. There are also smaller scattered olivines set in the host metal. The modal abundances are approximately 60% metal, 38% olivine, 2% troilite. Electron microprobe analysis and imaging reveal the presence of magnesian olivine, kamacite, and minor troilite. No other phases were detected with both EPMA and SEM searches. Pallasite, ungrouped is a unique pallasite type both in terms of olivine composition and oxygen isotopes. Along with Milton, this meteorite is the only other ungrouped that is not a pyroxene pallasite, however Milton and this meteorite are not paired and do not have olivine compositions and oxygen isotopes that are similar. The meteorite would make an excellent addition to any collection, and comes in a quality labeled display box with a Big Kahuna Meteorites Certificate of Authenticity / Specimen Card.
