    This is a nice piece of gem quality Libyan Desert Glass tektite / meteorite.
    It measures about  1 1/8" at longest by 5/8" at widest
    Weighs  about 2.37 grams / 11.85 cts.
    Comes with a nice pouch.

    Libyan Desert Glass is found in the Libyan desert near the Egyptian border.
    Libyan Desert Glass is almost pure silica.  It is found in only one area near the Libyan / Egyptian border.  Libyan desert glass has been confirmed to be an impact / tektite and was probably formed when an asteroid or comet hit the surface of the earth like Moldavite, the impact was so powerful it was assumed that a meteorite melded with earth material and the glass was formed. It is said to be over 28 million years old, and it was found in the 1930's.
