NEW FALL from Morocco!!!
This gorgeous individual weighs 47.998 grams and is extremely fresh with fresh black fusion crust, nice regmaglypts and slickensides!! Many stones are fully covered by matte black fusion crust. Interiors of specimens are brecciated with light and dark gray regions. On the evening of November 16, 2021, around 9:30 pm, a fireball was seen by many people in the area of Guelmim and Tan-Tan, Morocco. Field investigations were conducted in December by H. Chennaoui Aoudjehane, M. Aoudjehane, L. Zennouri (FSAC and ATTARIK), A. Bouferra and a team from the Moroccan Association of Meteorites to obtain the coordinates of the fall and testimonies of eyewitnesses. Only one explosion was heard and a white color was reported for the visible meteor. Eyewitnesses from Msied village said it was like a broken lightning in the evening lasting 2 or 3 ", moving from north to south and stopping by the mountains. The first stones were found on December 4 following rainfall in the province. Only a few pieces were found totaling less than 2 kg. The strewnfield is about one km long in concordance with a direction north to south reported by eyewitnesses. I recently obtained several hundred grams of this material, only 5 pieces from a Moroccan dealer named Youssef Ait El Caid. This meteorite comes with a COA card. Physical characteristics: Large complete pieces are rare. The main mass is 840 g followed by 560 g then 120 g, 104.6 g and many smaller pieces (the smallest around one gram). Many stones are fully covered by matte black fusion crust. Interiors of specimens are brecciated with light and dark gray regions. Broken stones show minor rusting because of the rainfall that occurred before the specimens were collected. Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 5.23 (mean of 4 measurements).
Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) This specimen is a breccia composed of equilibrated chondrite clasts of various petrologic types. Type 4 clasts consist of well-formed chondrules in a relatively coarse-grained matrix, whereas Type 5 clasts contain fewer well-formed chondrules, and Type 6 clasts are largely recrystallized with only a few relict chondrules and holly leaf-shaped metal grains. In between these lithic clasts is a sparse opaque, very fine grained matrix. Some of the metal in the studied thin section exhibits very slight staining by terrestrial Fe oxides.

Specimens: 45.3 g including one polished thin section and a polished endcut at UWB; 20.3 g at FSAC; three larger stones (840 g, 560 g, 120 g) and many small pieces totaling 1400 g with WangZ; two larger stones (104.6 g, 47.7 g) and many small pieces totaling 230 g in a private collection in Casablanca, Morocco.
