original antique 1930s jack haynes tattoo flash cut native indian chief 4x6
original flash cut is roughly 4x6 inches.  from 1930s.
in excellent condition for its age.
original source flash for the print was unsigned but created by Jack B. Haynes, of rural Missouri, circa early 1930s or possibly late 1920s.
the original designs are lined in black ink and colored with pencil. the sheet although lined and colored by jack Haynes but somehow ended up being owned by texas outlaw tattooist and carny, Dutch Van Dee.  how these two crossed paths will probably always be a mystery...
the original flash was included in a large wood hand-painted book cover that included 20 or so sheets of Haynes flash and 40 or so percy waters original blue prints. that book ended up in the hands of Dutch Van Dee of Texas and then after changing hands was passed to a book collector to finance a debt for an art show. it remained in temperature controlled climate for 50 years.

Dutch Van Dee was a prolific and influential central Texas tattooer, carnival/sideshow operator, boxer, wrestler, outlaw, and wild man. Dutch started tattooing in the late 1920s until he died in 1974, mostly in Texas but also in Canada and across the US. Dutch was also the original owner of the "Texas Flash Collection", one of the largest collections of antique and vintage tattoo flash ever collected.  The original hand-colored (most likely by Dutch) flash cuts were part of that collection.
