    Description

    Offered for sale is a rare original antique lithograph with hand painted red and green accents on this Percy Waters tattoo flash. This flash number 139 features icons of Friday the 13th, 1920’s style. Featuring pinups, snakes, Skulls, and cats. It has the little red sticker 41 center bottom.
    Percy Waters born in 1888 in Alabama was one of the great names in Tattooing. He started as a hobby, in the early 1900 his interest grew. He learned tattooing in New York city but he got in trouble in 1917 when he tattooed the daughter of a wealthy local and was told to get out of town. He settle in Detroit, Michigan near Electric Park. He established his own started a tattoo supply business and patented the first electric tattooing machine. After decades in Detroit, he retired in his home town of Anniston Alabama until his death in 1952.
    This is not a new photographic reproduction. It is an original flash from Percy Waters supply store embossed (of a surface or object decorated with a design that stands out in relief ) “Waters Tattoo Supplies Detroit”. The red and green color is applied over the black. There are no dots on this print.

    This piece is not framed. It measures
    14 5/8” wide by 9 3/4”. Exact size height is covered by the black tape.
    Condition: used in a tattoo parlor, a obvious stain is visible near camel, some puncture marks in various areas, acid darkening from the original backing materials used (mounted on card-stock with black tape) The white tape on the back is residual tape from a prior framing. I did not want to risk damage to the original black tape underneath by removing it.
